DAMON HETA

Damon Heta has made a rapid rise in the PDC since moving over to the UK at the end of 2019. The Perth native shot to fame when he won the 2019 Brisbane Darts Masters, beating James Wade, Gary Anderson, Simon Whitlock and Rob Cross to become only the second regional qualifier to claim a World Series of Darts title.

‘The Heat’ left his home in Australia to move over to the UK ahead of Q-School in January 2020, when he won a PDC tour card to join the professional circuit. Heta picked up his first ranking title with a Players Championship victory less than nine months into his debut season on the ProTour.

Heta made history in 2022 when he teamed up with Simon Whitlock to win Australia’s first PDC World Cup of Darts title, whilst his singles career has seen him pick up tournament victories on the European Tour and Players Championship circuits to break into the world’s top 16. Damon Heta FAQ’s

Is Damon Heta still playing darts?

The 2023 season was Damon Heta’s fourth consecutive year playing on the PDC circuit. It was a successful campaign for ‘The Heat’, who won two Players Championship titles and reached the quarter-finals in three major events.

Heta made the last eight in the prestigious World Matchplay for the first time, before having runs to the quarter-finals of both the Grand Slam of Darts and Players Championship Finals. His consistent performances in the majors have seen him break into the top 10 of the world rankings.

What darts does Damon Heta use now?

The darts Damon Heta currently uses are his signature Harrows Damon Heta Natural Darts in 23g. These darts meet Heta’s own personal preferences and are made of 90% tungsten.

The first generation of Heta’s darts from Harrows feature a front tapered barrel, with the front of the dart divided into three sections, each with two small ringed cuts. The rear of the barrel has a symmetrical ring grip along the length.

How old is Damon Heta?

Born on August 10, 1987, Damon Heta celebrated his 36th birthday in 2023 – a year which also saw him break into the top 10 on the PDC Order of Merit for the first time. His darts career started out back home in Australia, competing on the Dartplayers Australia (DPA) Tour.

His first title came in the 2014 DPA Australian Singles and he would go on to claim 10 tournament wins in his home circuit over the next five years. Heta’s breakthrough victory in Australia came at the 2019 Brisbane Darts Masters, a World Series of Darts event which saw him beat some of the top PDC stars to lift the title.

Soon after that World Series success, Heta made the move to the UK to pursue a career on the professional circuit. ‘The Heat’ won his tour card at UK Q-School in January 2020 and has not looked back, winning Players Championship and European Tour events, as well as the 2022 PDC World Cup of Darts alongside Simon Whitlock.

Damon Heta Career Highlights

In the summer of 2019, Damon Heta announced himself on the world stage by winning the Brisbane Darts Masters. A crucial 164 checkout helped ‘The Heat’ to a 6-5 win against James Wade in the opening round, before victories over Gary Anderson (8-6), Simon Whitlock (8-6) and Rob Cross (8-7) sealed a memorable victory on home soil.

In June 2022, Damon Heta and Simon Whitlock made history for Australia by winning the PDC World Cup of Darts for the first time. After beating England 2-0 in the semi-finals, the Australian duo raced into a 2-0 lead in the best of five match final against Wales. Heta and Whitlock lost 4-3 in the pairs to their Welsh opponents, but Heta held his nerve in the next singles, beating Jonny Clayton 4-2 to complete a 3-1 win and clinch a first World Cup title for Australia.

Damon Heta capped off a memorable 2022 by lifting his first European Tour title at the Gibraltar Darts Trophy. A nail-biting final against Peter Wright saw ‘The Heat’ win through 8-7 in a last-leg decider to claim the biggest ranking title of his career so far.
